Taking Stock and Looking Ahead: Benchmarking New York State Maple Sugar Production
Cornell University Department of Natural Resources researchers have produced a statistical report of NY maple production, Taking Stock and Looking Ahead: Benchmarking New York State Maple Sugar Production.  The data are broken out by size class (# taps) and by geographical district to characterize the diversity among NY State maple producers, as well as to facilitate comparisons among similarly positioned operations.  The report is based on a detailed mail survey of NY maple producers and is part of Cornell's effort to support maple production and sustainable rural development in New York.  The report was funded by the Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station.  Direct questions, comments and ideas to Steve Wolf, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Natural Resources, Cornell University, 124 Fernow Hall, Ithaca, NY 14853, ph: (607) 255-7778, saw44@cornell.edu.
